Creative and cold

Darlings all,

My paws are a bit cold, but I managed to do it! How do you like it? It’s my first attempt at a snowman. Or do you think it’s more like “snow art”? I think so. Perhaps a little Picasso influence, wouldn’t you say? The rendering of form, the angular contour, the chiseled if not ruddy features. Yes, I do have this urge to be creative — to share my artistic voice. Perhaps snow art will be my medium of choice.

We hardly ever get to play in the snow here, so today it really made my day. Glacier tried helping a little, but she was more interested in playing friz. Really, when I’m being creative, she is a bit of a nuisance. Don’t tell her I said that. I must admit, I’m not always as athletic as my little sister. I guess you’d say I’m a little more balanced that way.

It feels rather cold today, so I think my sculpture might last a while. That means more opportunity for others to appreciate my work. I did sign near it, if you know what I mean.

Academy

Academy began the writing trend in her family with her touching blog, "Academy The Border Collie: Wisdom from a faithful dog". After her passing in 2015, many of her favourite posts provided the content for Stick And Squirrel, the online magazine for dogs. Some previously unpublished works from this dear girl are yet to be shared.

  1. What a good job, Academy. We have not had snow this year and I have been very sad (but my person has been very happy – go figure). I love to play in the snow. However, I do get great clumps of snow in my fur and my person doesn’t like that so much either. Good to see you having such a great time. Hugs and kisses, Lily Dog.

How lovely to hear from you again. What? No snow where you are? Isn’t that just wrong?
Maybe you’ll get some one day soon. I hope so. I do know what you mean about the clumping. You haven’t been made to wear those silly boots, have you? I must admit, even though they look juvenile, I think it would keep that yucky-tasting salt off our paws. My love to you and Judith.
      Fondly,

    • Happy New Year to you, too, Val!

It is wonderful to know that you are reading my blog from time to time. You’ll have to tell me when you have your own blog up and running. I bet you have lots of good stories to share!

Enjoy the snow while we have it. I tried making a snow angel today, but the wings came out kind of goofy. Then again, my wagging tail added a funny part at the bottom, too. I don’t mind. It was lots of fun to try.

  3. Academy, darling,

Your other papa is very proud of what you’ve created. Once again, you have amazed me completely. As far as your ‘signature’ is concerned, I have learned that only the greatest artists sign their work. And, you , my love, are a great artist (and a great writer) !Tons of love,K-papa.
